Boys and Girls Tennis Pick Up 4-1 Region Wins Over St. Francis

DUNWOODY, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis teams each nabbed region victories on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, defeating the St. Francis Knights 4-1 at Dunwoody Country Club.

Liam O'Leary took the no. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-3 while Cadyn Dawson posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 2 singles.

Lawson Byers & Nico Tur won at no. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-2 and Colin Walker & Hugh Carter shutout their opponents at no. 2 doubles 6-0, 6-0.

The Varsity Girls also impressed en route to their first region victory of the season, winning 4-1.

Daniela O'Leary (no. 1 singles), Lucille Kincaid (no. 3 singles-by forfeit), Hunter Reese Giardino & Brooke Nazarian (no. 1 doubles) and Taylor Gravely & Kate Duncan (no. 2 doubles) all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.

The Varsity Boys (3-3, 1-0) and Varsity Girls (3-3, 1-0) return to action on Thursday, Feb. 15 in a split-location match against Riverwood.

The Varsity Boys take on the Raiders at Sandy Springs Tennis Center while the Varsity Girls will travel to Riverwood.

First serve for both matches is scheduled for 3 p.m.
