Mustangs Snap Skid with 6-2 Victory Over Weber School

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 27, defeating the Weber School Rams 6-2 on the road in region play.

The Mustangs trailed 1-0 after the first inning and 2-0 after the fifth.

Mount Vernon scored its first run in the top of the sixth inning on a Hudson Forrest home run to cut the deficit in half at 2-1.

An inning later, Nate Thomas doubled to score Alec Fahlbusch to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning.

The Mustangs took their first lead of the contest two batters later when Forrest walked with the bases loaded to bring in Nate Shumway for a 3-2 advantage.

Will Flowers lined out to right field one batter later to allow Nate Thomas to tag and score for a 4-2 Mustang lead.

Hampton Hudson reached on a Weber infield error that plated Landon Brice and Rigby Anderson walked with the bases loaded to push MV's lead to 6-2.

Maddox Chasman picked up the win on the mound for the Mustangs, tossing one inning with two strikeouts.

Landon Brice retired the side in order with two strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh inning to thwart any Ram rally.

The Mustangs return to action after Interim and Spring Break on Tuesday, March 19 when they host Galloway for another region game.

First pitch against the Scots is slated for 4 p.m. at Mustang Park.
