MUSTANGS CLAIM SEASON SERIES OVER GALLOWAY WITH 19-0 ROAD VICTORY

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Baseball team clinched the regular season series against the Galloway School Scots on Wednesday, March 20, winning in convincing fashion 19-0 at the Warren Road Complex.

After a scoreless first inning, MV erupted for eight runs in the second inning and 11 more in the third to bring the run-rule into effect.

MV outhit Galloway 16-1 and played perfect defense.

Landon Brice and Will Flowers each led the Mustang offense with three RBI's each.

Nate Thomas, Ben Bastek, and Alec Fahlbusch also recorded two RBI's each in the winning bid.

Ten different players finished with at least one RBI and five players finished with a multi-hit game: Brice (3), Fahlbusch (3), Thomas (2), Hampton Hudson (2) and Harris Meriweather (2).

Brice also had a 2-run home run in the top of the second.

Jack Riddle picked up the win on the mound for MV.

The righty tossed three scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out four batters.

Mount Vernon, winners of three straight, will return to action on Friday, March 22 to play Whitefield Academy in another Region 6-1A contest.

First pitch against the Wolfpack is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Mableton, Ga.
