MARIETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Track & Field teams were in action over the weekend, competing in the Georgia Spring Break Showdown at Marietta High School on Saturday, March 30.
Several Mustangs had strong showings.
The Girls 4x400 relay team of Cora Champney, Alexis Smith, Gracie Urban, Kennedy Reynolds, & Meredith Dunlap obliterated the previous MV school record by six seconds, running a Georgia Top-50 time of 4:08.88.
This time keeps them Ranked no. 1 in the State for MV's classification by over 13 seconds.
Junior Kennedy Reynolds just dropped a Georgia Top-50 time of 14.92 in the girls 100m Hurdles.(1st in 1A-D1) and backed that up with a Georgia Top-5 time of 1:03 in the Girls 400m Hurdles.
Junior Alexis Smith hits a new personal record in the girls 400M with a time of 58.99 which puts her in contention to be the 1A D1 State Champion this year.
Sophomore Haris Flynn smashed his old school record in the Boys 1600m by running an astonishing 4:22 in the boys mile.
This is a Georgia Top-30 time and ranks no. 1 in the State (1A-D1) by over seven seconds.
Senior Curran Jolly re-established himself for state in the Boys 800M by dropping a 2:00 time which ranks him second in the classification.
The Mustangs are back in action on Wednesday, April 3, competing at Whitefield Academy with events starting at 4 p.m. in Mableton, Ga.
