Boys and Girls Tennis Close Out Regular Season with Region Wins at Mt. Pisgah

ROSWELL, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Tennis teams closed out the regular season in style on Wednesday, April 3, both earning victories over Mt. Pisgah at Horseshoe Bend Country Club.

In the Varsity Boys match, MV secured a 5-0 shutout.

Liam O'Leary was dominant in his performance at no. 1 singles, taking down the competition 6-0, 6-0.

Cadyn Dawson picked up a victory at no. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0 while Nico Tur cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at no. 3 singles.

Lawson Byers & Colin Walker had the match of the day at no. 1 doubles, winning the lengthy battle 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 10-4.

Matthew Zeldin and Hugh Carter played well at no. 2 doubles, prevailing 6-4, 6-3.

In the Varsity Girls match, MV bested the Patriots 4-1.

Daniela O'Leary defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1 at no. 1 singles.

Hunter Reese Giardino and Brooke Nazarian had an easy day at no. 1 doubles, winning 6-1, 6-2.

Edee Moorman and Maggie McKenzie brought home the Mustang win with their gritty performance at no. 2 doubles.

After trailing in the first set, the duo came back to win it 6-4 and closed out the match in the second set, 6-2.

Lucille Kincaid also won at no. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2.

MV will now gear up for the Region Tournament, scheduled for the week of April 8.

Both squads will be the no. 2 seed entering into tournament play.
