Girls Soccer Secures Spot in Sweet 16 with 4-3 Win at Trion

TRION, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Trion High School 4-3 on the road on Tuesday afternoon, April 16 to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA 1A-DI State Tournament.

Mount Vernon scored three first half goals while allowing one to go ahead 3-1 at intermission.

Taylor Baker had two goals in the first period with Eden Wassersug netting one.

In the second half, MV held off a late Trion charge as Stella Olives netted a key goal.

Elizabeth Hall had two assists in the winning bid with Lilla Adams and Baker securing one each.

Bella Champney had five saves in goal for MV.

Mount Vernon (10-6) will play Tallulah Falls in the Sweet-16 on Wednesday, April 24.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Amick Athletic Field.
