Mustangs Take Senior Night Match Against East Coweta, 16-8

ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Lacrosse team defeated the East Coweta Indians on Tuesday night, April 16, winning 16-8 on Senior Night at Ron Hill Field.

Mount Vernon jumped out to a 5-3 lead after the first quarter and used 5-1 run in the second period to go ahead 10-4 at halftime.

MV won the third period 2-1 and scored three more goals in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Cole Palmer had a game-high nine goals to lead the Mustang offense.

Jackson Scotchie scored three times while Chase Perry pumped in two goals as well.

Scotchie also led the Mustangs with three assists.

MV outshot East Coweta 44-33 on the day despite trailing in face-off percentage (44-56).

MV gained the momentum often against East Coweta, winning the clear percentage at 53 percent.

Coleson Quisenberry picked up 15 saves in goal for MV.

Mount Vernon, winners of two straight, is back on the field on Friday, April 19, traveling to East Cherokee High School for its final regular season game.

Face-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Canton, Ga.
