Boys Tennis Blanks Prince Avenue 5-0 to Advance to Elite 8

WATKINSVILLE, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Tennis team is going back to the Elite 8 for a second straight season.

The Mustangs defeated the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon, April 23, at Oconee Veterans Park to advance.

Liam O'Leary blanked his no. 1 singles opponent 6-0, 6-0, and Cadyn Dawson's no. 2 singles match had a similar 6-1, 6-0 result.

Nico Tur was sharp at no. 3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0.

Lawson Byers and Colin Walker had a competitive match at no. 1 doubles but prevailed 6-4, 6-3.

Matthew Zeldin and Hugh Carter played a relaxed match at no. 2 doubles and came out on top 6-4, 6-2.

The Mustangs (15-7) will travel to play Bleckley County in the Elite 8 next week.
