Girls and Boys Soccer Punch Tickets to Elite 8 with Wins at Tallulah Falls

TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Soccer teams prolonged their 2024 seasons on Wednesday night, defeating Tallulah Falls School on the road to advance to the GHSA 1A-DI Elite 8.

In the Varsity Girls match, MV prevailed 2-1.

MV and Tallulah battled to a 0-0 draw at halftime.

But in the second half, MV got a goal from Eden Wassersug and Elizabeth Hall to go ahead 2-0.

Sienna Tiffin had one assist.

MV allowed a goal late to Tallulah but no more to preserve the victory.

Bella Champney had one save for MV.

In the Varsity Boys match, the Mustangs also picked up a 2-1 win.

MV led 1-0 at halftime after a first period goal from George Walmsley.

Nick Sroka struck for the Mustangs in the second period to go ahead 2-0.

Harrison Estenson snagged three saves in the winning bid as well.

The Varsity Girls (11-6) are back in action on Monday, April 29, traveling to play Metter High School in Metter, Ga. at a time to be determined.

The Varsity Boys (15-7) return to play on Tuesday, April 30 against the winner of the Temple/Woodville-Tompkins at a time to be determined.
