Flynn Sets New Boys Record as Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Bob Blastow

WHITESBURG, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed at the 2024 Bob Blastow Meet on Saturday, August 24 with several Mustangs posting impressive finishes.

Most notably, Haris Flynn set the new Varsity Boys 5K program record with a blazing time of 15:53.

Flynn also placed eighth overall in the event.

Collin Maher secured a spot in the Top-100 as well with a time of 17:14, good for 74th place.

In the Varsity Girls race, Morgan Huggins placed in the Top-10, clocking in 19:17 for an eighth place finish.

Gracie Urban (22:23) and Lydia Nagy (22:30) also secured spots in the Top-100.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Orthowest Invitational at Carrollton High School.

Races are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Carrollton, Ga.
