EMERSON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team had posted a third place finish on Saturday, August 24 at the 2024 Rally Cup at the LakePoint Complex.
In pool play, MV dropped its match to Columbus High School 1-2 (18-25/25-21/10-15) before picking up a win against Langston-Hughes 2-0 (25-13/25-6).
The Mustangs would round out pool play with a 2-0 win over Chestatee High School (25-19/25-21).
In the Gold Bracket of the tournament, the Mustangs opened up play with a 2-1 victory over Jackson County (9-25/27-25/15-11).
MV dropped its final match of the day in the semifinal round of pool play to St. Anne Pacelli 0-2 (17-25/12-25).
Mount Vernon is back on the court on Tuesday, August 27, traveling to the Walker School for a scheduled tri-match.
MV (10-6) will play King's Ridge at 6 p.m. followed by the host Walker at 7 p.m.
