MARIETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team returned to the court on Tuesday, August 27, taking on King's Ridge and Walker at the Coles Athletic Center.
MV took its opening match against King's Ridge 2-0 (25-18/25-21) before defeating the host Walker 2-0 (26-24/25-21).
In the match against King's Ridge, MV racked up five aces, 30 kills, 29 assists, and 19 digs.
Sophia Van Name led the squad in assists with two while teammate Sophie Hardie had the most kills with nine.
Hannah Douglas was active on the court, recording all 29 assists for the Mustangs.
Van Name posted seven digs while Brooke Nazarian and Lucy Solh each had three.
In the nightcap against Walker, Van Name, Hardie and Taylor Docka each recorded two aces.
Van Name smashed 10 kills while Docka and Douglas combined for 26 assists.
Anna-Charlotte Toole led the team in digs with 13.
Mount Vernon (12-6) returns to action after the Labor Day holiday, hosting its first home match of the 2024 season on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Mount Vernon will play Oak Mountain Academy at 5:30 p.m. and Cross Keys High School at 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gym.
