MABLETON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Softball picked up its third consecutive win on Wednesday afternoon, August 28, defeating the Pace Academy Knights 5-0 at the Riverview Athletic Complex.

Reese Hickey tossed a no-hitter, racking up 11 strikeouts while walking just two batters.

MV took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the first coming on a Hickey triple to right field that plated Mamie Bowen.

One batter later, Olivia McDougall reached on a Knight infield error that brought in Riley Blatt.

After five consecutive scoreless innings, the Mustangs would add three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a commanding 5-0 lead.

Kennedy Reynolds reached on another Pace infield miscue that allowed to score.

One batter later, Priscilla Andrin drilled a 2-run home run over the right field fence.

Mount Vernon (5-7), winners of three straight, is back on the field on Thursday, August 29, hosting The Walker School in a Region 5-1A matchup.

First pitch against the Wolverines is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mustang Park.
