CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams were back in action on Saturday, Sept. 7 competing at the Carrollton Invitational hosted by Carrollton High School.

The Varsity Girls placed third overall in the 1A-3A race.

Morgan Huggins crossed the finish line first for the Mustangs, clocking in at 21:27 for ninth place.

Gracie Urban took 30th overall with a time of 23:21 while teammate Lydia Nagy was 32nd at 23:31.

Alexis Kendall rounded out the Mustangs in the Top-50 with a 34th place finish at 23:34.

In the Varsity Boys race, MV placed second out of 32 schools in the 1A-3A race.

Collin Maher took 12th place at 18:26 while Matthew Pierce was 19th at 18:51.

Other team members in the Top-50 included: Chase Betz (39th - 19:24) and Henry Miller (44th - 19:27).

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Golden Bear Gallop at Holy Innocents.

Races are set to begin at 8 a.m.
