ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team snapped a four-game skid on Tuesday, Sept. 10, defeating Fellowship Christian and Mt. Bethel 2-0 at King's Ridge Christian School.
Against Fellowship Christian, MV took the first set 25-10 and closed out the match with a 25-14 victory in the second set.
MV totaled 12 aces as a squad with Sophia Van Name leading the way with three.
The Mustangs also tallied 19 kills paced by Sophia Hardie's team-high eight.
Maggie Hodges had all of MV's 18 assists while Anna-Charlotte Toole had 17 of Mount Vernon's 32 digs.
In the second match of the day, the Mustangs bested Mt. Bethel in two sets 25-15, 25-15.
Taylor Docka and Hardie each netted two aces while Van Name posted 11 kills of the 22 Mustang kills.
Hodges again led the team in assists with 22 and Toole in digs with 11.
Mount Vernon (16-10) is back in action this coming weekend, traveling to Chattanooga, TN for the 2024 River City Rumble.
Matches will be hosted by The Baylor School and Girls Preparatory School with play beginning Friday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.
