ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball team picked up a convincing 84-29 region win over the Atlanta International School Eagles on Friday night, Dec. 6, at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
MV jumped out to a 25-6 lead at the end of the first period and outscored the Eagles 23-11 in the second quarter for a commanding 48-17advantage at halftime.
The Mustangs continued their offensive surge in the third quarter, outscoring Atlanta International 22-6.
MV also won the fourth quarter scoring battle 14-6.
Tripp Jackson led all scorers with 16 points while hauling in eight rebounds.
Darrell Dickens finished with 15 points and five rebounds while teammate AJ Doyley netted 13.
Chase Daniels was active on both ends of the floor, putting in nine points with four steals.
MV capitalized from behind the arc as well with seven made 3-pointers in the contest.
The Mustangs (3-2, 2-0 Reg. 5) return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 10, traveling to the Weber School for another key region contest.
Tip-off against the Rams is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Eitan Force Athletic Complex.
