Boys Basketball Posts Fifth Straight Win with 65-62 Victory at Landmark

FAIRBURN, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball team picked up its fifth consecutive victory on Tuesday night, Jan. 28, defeating the Landmark Christian War Eagles 65-62 in region play.

MV jumped out to a 21-15 lead after the first quarter but Landmark won the second period 21-17.

The Mustangs led 38-36 at halftime which would set up a thrilling second half.

The War Eagles went on a 17-16 spurt in the third quarter to pull within one point at 54-53.

MV closed the game on a 11-9 run to secure the victory.

Darrell Dickens led the team in scoring with 28 points, including five made 3-pointers.

Dickens also finished with five rebounds in the winning bid.

Gabe Alterman and Quint McGrath each netted 15 points in the win as well.

Mount Vernon (12-9, 7-3 Reg. 5-1A) has won five straight games dating back to Jan. 14.

The Mustangs will look to make it six in a row on Saturday, Feb. 1 against Paideia School.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Paideia Gymnasium.
