ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball closed out the 2024-25 regular season with a bang on Thursday, Feb. 7, defeating the Galloway Scots 82-50 on Senior Night at the Upper Campus Gymnasium.
MV led 21-19 at the end of the first quarter and used a 21-7 run in the second period to go ahead 42-26 at halftime.
The Mustangs put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Scots 24-9 to lead 66-35 going to the fourth period.
Mount Vernon shot 43.7 percent from the field and an even higher mark from behind the 3-point line at 48.6 percent.
MV's offense was fueled by senior Pace Bottoms, who had 25 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 32 points.
Bottoms was 8-for-12 from downtown as well.
Gabe Alterman finished with 10 points and 11 assists.
Tripp Jackson, Bristan DeRocher and Bottoms all pulled down eight rebounds each.
The Mustangs totaled a whopping 17 made 3-pointers and posted a season-high 23 assists.
Mount Vernon (14-11, 10-5 Reg. 5-1A DI) will now gear up for the Region Tournament, hosting the first round on Monday, Feb. 10 against the winner of the Wesleyan/Mount Pisgah play-in game.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Upper Campus Gym.
