WHITESBURG, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Cross Country teams had an impressive showing at the Coach Wood Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the McIntosh Nature Preserve Course.
In the Varsity Girls Championship race, Morgan Huggins finished in 17th place with a time of 18:34.
Alexis Kendall and Emma-Neal Medlin went sub-20 for the first time this season while Lydia Nagy and Emily Thompson dropped their times by over a minute.
Siena Tiffin dropped 1:30 since August as well.
In the Varsity Boys Championship race, Haris Flynn continued to impress with a time of 15:49.
Other impressive outings came in the Varsity Boys Race with Will Vansant, posting a career-beat 18:08.
John Paine was right behind Vansant and dropped 1:20 off his beginning-of-season 5k.
Carter King and Thomas Robbins also dropped over a minute this season and continue to improve each meet.
In addition, Captain Charlie Copeland shed over two minutes off his beginning of season 5K.
Captain Brennan Maher dropped over a minute off his best 5K time while Ben Elliott was just seconds away from a sub-20 mark.
Mount Vernon is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at GHSA Sectionals hosted by The Darlington School in Rome, Ga.
