CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls Cross Country team had a historic day at the 2025 GHSA Private State Meet, taking home a State Runner-Up finish at the Carrollton High School Course.
The finish is the highest ever for Mount Vernon, who totaled 71 points as a team.
Morgan Huggins took home State Champion honors, finishing the 5K race at 19:48.
The Mustangs also had two other Top-10 finishers: Lizzie Mueller (9th - 20:26) and Alexis Kendall (10th - 20:34).
Emma-Neal Medlin also had a strong race, clocking in at 20:59 for 13th place overall.

For the Varsity Boys, Haris Flynn closed out his Mustang career with a third place finish in the State Championship at 16:43.
