MABLETON, Ga - The Mount Vernon middle school girls and boys team came home with the ultimate prize on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 4, besting the entire field to claim the 2019 Metro-10 Tennis Championship.

With a 10-0 record going into play, both teams had a first round 'bye' entering the third round.

After wins in the semifinals, the girls defeated Walker while the boys edged Whitefield in the Championship match to earn the first place trophy.

With the victory, the girls have now won back-to-back Metro-10 Championships.

"It was a great display of sportsmanship as non-players and players sat and stood in the stands and supported their teammates," Head Coach Michelle Erling said.

Added Erling: "Our teams never gave up and continued to fight during the Championship and all season long. I am proud that all their hard work paid off at the end of the season."

Congrats Mustangs, Coach Erling, Coach Jason Locke and all involved!
