PEACHTREE CORNERS - The Mount Vernon varsity girls cross country team punched their ticket to the GHSA Class-A Private State Meet on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 26, at the Wesleyan School.
The Mustangs placed fourth overall at the Region 5-1A Meet, good enough to earn the fourth spot to qualify for state.
The Mustangs placed five runners in the Top-25 en route to clinching a state meet berth.
Kennedy Reynolds led all Mustangs with a time of 21:47, good for sixth place overall.
Samantha McCarthy finished in 20th at 24:13 while Taylor Keller was 22nd overall at 24:21.
Rounding out the Mustangs that finished in the Top-25 are: Daniella O'Leary (24:30, 24th overall) and Audrey Thompson (24:41, 25th overall).
The Mustangs finished with 97 points to claim fourth.
Wesleyan, Hebron Christian and Holy Innocents finished first-third, respectively.

The GHSA Class-A Private State Meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Carrollton Course at Carrollton High School.
The Mustangs will run at 11:45 a.m. that morning.
