WHITESBURG, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed in their final regular season race on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Coach Wood Invitational at the McIntosh Nature Preserve.
Multiple Mustangs posted top finishes and PR's in the event.
In the Varsity Girls race, Morgan Huggins was fifth overall while teammate Alexis Kendall bested her PR by 17 seconds.
Alexis Kendall, Lydia Nagy, Emily Thompson, Retta Duckett, Leighton Duckett, Savannah Davis and Lily Stanford also carded personal bests in the 5K competition.
In the Varsity Boys race, Collin Maher led the squad with another sub-18 minute time.
Jake Pierce also posted a sub-19 mark for a PR.
Other Mustangs that had PR's included: Will Vansant, Matt Pierce, Chase Betz, Eli Diaz, Thomas Robbins, Kadin Tomlinson, Carter King, Noah Lear, Oliver Membrillo, and Rex Garlinghouse.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 competing at the GHSA Sectionals.
Races are set to begin at 8 a.m. at The Darlington School in Rome, Ga.
