SHARPSBURG, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls Soccer team won their first round GHSA State Tournament game on Thursday, April 24, defeating the Trinity Christian Lions 3-0 at Trinity Stadium.
Rachel Reeve scored a goal for the Mustangs in the first period, giving the Mustangs a 1-0 lead by halftime.
MV put the game away for good in the second period with two more goals.
Eden Wassersug scored on an assist from Reeve to make it 2-0.
Reeve would then strike later in the second period on an unassisted score to push MV ahead 3-0.
Bella Champney had five saves in the winning bid.
Mount Vernon (8-6) will play Hebron Christian in the Sweet 16 on Thursday, May 1 at a time to be determined.
