ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Football team picked up its second win on Friday afternoon, Sept. 19, besting the Mount Pisgah Patriots 56-6 at Ron Hill Field.
MV fired on all cylinders offensively, racking up 385 yards of total offense.
The Mustangs led 20-0 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Patriots 22-6 in the second period to lead 42-6 at halftime.
Mount Vernon would end the game on a 14-0 run to secure the win.
Keon Cleland scored four touchdowns for MV, two coming via the rush and the other two on receptions.
Cleland also led the team in rushing with 69 yards on two carries.
Taurean Rawlins paced MV in receiving, hauling in five catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Noah Dungan was 14-of-15 passing with 240 yards and six touchdowns.
AJ Hunter and Dustin Kytle also scored a touchdown for the Mustangs.
MV's defense shined throughout much of the contest as well with Will Schuh and Rigby Anderson reach recording a sack.
Ethan Siggers and Sandy Johnson had two tackles for loss.
MV (2-3) returns to the grid iron on Friday, Sept. 26, traveling to Fellowship Christian School for a key region game.
Kickoff against the Paladins is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Bob Lord Field.
