ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Volleyball team was in action on Tuesday night, Sept. 23, taking on St. Francis and Wesleyan on the road at St. Francis High School.
The Mustangs came away with a split, defeating St. Francis 2-1 before falling to Wesleyan 1-2.
Against St. Francis, MV dropped the first set 19-25 before rallying to win the next two sets, 25-21 and 15-9.
The Mustangs netted 21 kills in the match with Sophia Hardie totaling a team-best 11.
Kate Kannon Hoover aided in MV's attack finishing with 11 of MV's 24 assists.
Hoover also had three aces as did teammate Quincey Smeltz.
Libero Brooke Nazarian was active on the floor for MV, racking up 15 digs.
In the match against Wesleyan, MV dropped the first set 19-25 before rallying to take the second game 25-14.
Wesleyan would close out the match in the winner-take-all third set, 15-8.
Mount Vernon (16-17) returns to action Friday-Saturday, Sept. 26-27 at the Hilton Head Tournament in Hilton Head Island, SC.
