SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Soccer squads were on the pitch on Thursday, March 19, taking on the Weber School Rams in region play.
The Varsity Girls won 4-0 while the Varsity Boys took home a 2-0 victory.
In the Varsity Girls match, MV led 1-0 at halftime and scored three more goals in the second half to seal the shutout win.
Quincey Smeltz, Tatum Overstreet, Holly Champney and Sabeen Flynn accounted for MV's goals.
Cari Duncan had one assist as well.
In the Varsity Boys match, both squads battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime.
But in the second period, Max Newton and Will Inman each scored a goal for the Mustangs, both assisted by Jax Donaldson.
Ashton Sedgley snagged three saves as well.
The Varsity Girls return to action Friday-Saturday, March 20-21, at the Southern Coast Cup in Foley, AL.
Both teams are back on the home pitch on Tuesday, March 24 hosting Paideia School with kickoff set for 4 p.m. (Girls) and 6 p.m. (Boys) at Ron Hill Field.
