ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Lacrosse team earned another impressive regular-season win on Thursday afternoon, March 19, defeating East Coweta High School 10-4 at Ron Hill Field.
MV got on the board early with a goal from Dalton Siggers at the 9:38 mark of the first quarter.
East Coweta would tie the match at 1-1 just 11 seconds later.
Siggers would strike again with 16.8 seconds to play in the first to give MV a 2-1 lead.
Twenty-two seconds into the second period, East Coweta tied the match once more, this time at 2-2.
But MV would end the half on a 2-0 spurt, with Jackson Scotchie (10:39) and Siggers (5:04) scoring to go ahead 4-2 at the break.
In the second half, MV outscored East Coweta 6-2 to seal the win.
Second half goals came from: Scotchie (2), Siggers (2) and Carr Easterlin (1).
MV out-shot East Coweta 25-21 including 18-6 on goal.
The Mustang defense caused 32 turnovers throughout the match as well.
Mount Vernon (6-1) returns to play on Monday, March 23, hosting Lanier High School.
Face-off against the Longhorns is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Ron Hill Field.
