ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis squads hit the court on Tuesday afternoon, March 21, competing against region rival Galloway at the Chastain Tennis Center.
The Varsity Girls defeated the Scots 3-2 while the Varsity Boys earned a 5-0 shutout win.
In the Varsity Girls match, Annabel France & Sadie Hutchens continued their winning ways at no.1 doubles with an 8-4 win.
Reagan Wissma defeated the competition at no. 3 singles 8-5 while Kate Duncan & Taylor Gravely won at no. 2 doubles 8-5.
The Mustangs are still unbeaten in region play at 7-0.
In the Varsity Boys match, the Mustangs earned their fourth consecutive sweep and won at all spots to improve to 6-1 in region action.
Liam O'Leary won at no. 1 singles 8-1 while Cadyn Dawson picked up the no. 2 singles win 8-4.
Kiefer Hurtado & Sam Hodges made quick work of their no. 1 doubles opponents, winning 8-2.
Jac Crouch & Benjamin Reagin won at no. 2 doubles 8-3.
Perhaps the match of the day came at no. 3 singles and Christopher Collins.
Playing as the last Mustang on court, Collins edged his opponent in a tie-break 9-8 (7-2) to give the Mustangs the shutout.
Mount Vernon returns to play swiftly, traveling to Whitefield Academy for another region match on Wednesday afternoon, March 22.
First serve against the Wolfpack is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Mableton, Ga.
