ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Track and Field teams had an impressive showing in Day Two of the GHSA Class-A DI Region 6 Meet, hosted by Atlanta International School on Thursday, April 27.
Sophomore Kennedy Reynolds picked up her second region championship, winning the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles.
Another double Gold medal winner and back-to-back Region Champion was junior Christopher Kartsonas in the Boys 300 Meter hHurdles and Boys 110 Meter Hurdles.
Perhaps the race of the evening was turned in by freshman Haris Flynn by winning the 800 Meter Run to become Region Champion.
The Mustangs closed the night with a dominating performance in the Boys 4x400 Meter Relay by running a State leading time of 3:28.84.
Other Mustangs to advance to Sectionals include: Bella Champney (Triple Jump), Max Moore (Discus), Aidan Ray (Long Jump and 300 Meter Hurdles), Flyn (1600 and 3200 Meter Run), Curran Jolly (800 Meter Run), Boys 4x100 Meter Relay Team (Ben Spitz, Nagari Tophia, Kartsonas, Ray) and Girls 4x100 Meter Relay (Elizabeth Ramos, Reynolds, Elle Crawford and Sumirra Dirir).
GHSA Sectionals are scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at Lamar County High School.
