MEMPHIS - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys basketball team snapped a two-game skid on Friday night, Jan. 5, defeating Lausanne Collegiate 69-50 at Houston High School as part of the Memphis HoopFest.
Mount Vernon led 11-8 after the first quarter and scored 14 points in the second period to go ahead 25-22 at halftime.
The Mustangs continued to pour in the points in the third period, outscoring Lausanne Collegiate 17-8 to lead 42-30.
Mount Vernon sealed the win with a 27-20 spurt in the fourth quarter.
Four players finished in double-figures for the Mustangs, paced by the 20 points of KJ Garris.
Xavier Shegog netted 15 points while teammate Trey Scott, III tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sha'Yah Goba pumped in 10 points and corralled five rebounds as well.
The Mustangs finished with six made 3-pointers in the contest, respectfully.
Mount Vernon (9-7) returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 9, traveling to Mt. Pisgah to resume Region 6-1A DI play.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Drummond Center Gymnasium in Johns Creek, Ga.
