ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Basketball team pushed its winning streak to three games on Thursday night, Jan. 12, defeating the Weber School Rams 72-27 at the Atlanta Jewish Academy Gymnasium.
Mount Vernon jumped out to a 25-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Rams 16-9 in the second period to lead 41-20 at halftime.
The Mustang defense did not allow Weber to score in the third quarter while the offense posted 24 points.
MV ended the game on a 9-7 run to earn the victory.
Four players finished in double-figures for the Mustangs with Xavier Shegog leading the way with 17 points.
Sha'Yah Goba totaled 16 points and Pace Bottoms finished with 13 points including two made 3-pointers.
KJ Garris netted 10 points, respectively.
The Mustangs (11-7, 5-0 Reg. 6-1A DI) returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 13, hosting Flint Hill Prep from Oakton, Va. as part of the Dennis Scott Legacy Classic.
Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. inside MV's Upper Campus Gymnasium.
