SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mount Vernon Varsity Girls and Boys Tennis teams picked up region wins on Thursday afternoon, March 21, defeating the Weber School Rams at the Sandy Springs Tennis Center.
In the Varsity Girls match, the Mustangs won 3-2 to snap a two-game losing skid.
Daniela O'Leary was victorious at no. 1 singles, 8-1.
Hunter Reese Giardino & Brooke Nazarian had a decisive 8-2 win at no. 1 doubles.
Similarly, Kate Duncan & Taylor Gravely took care of business at no. 2 doubles, winning 8-4.
In the Varsity Boys match, MV shut out the Rams 5-0 to earn its fifth consecutive win to remain unbeaten in region play.
Liam O'Leary won at no. 1 singles 8-0 and teammate Cadyn Dawson won a back-and-forth match at no. 2 singles, 8-5.
Nico Tur was ahead 5-2 in his no. 3 singles match and held off a late run from his opponent to win 9-7.
Lawson Byers & Colin Walker were back in action at no. 1 doubles and prevailed 8-4.
MV secured the shutout with Matthew Collins & Matthew Zeldin winning at no. 2 doubles, 8-6.
The Varsity Girls (7-7, 4-2) and Varsity Boys (9-5, 6-0) are back in action on Tuesday, March 26 hosting King's Ridge in another region match on Senior Day.
First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Sandy Springs Tennis Center.
