ATLANTA - The Mount Vernon Varsity Boys Lacrosse team returned to action for the first time after break on Thursday afternoon, March 21, taking on the ELCA Chargers at Ron Hill Field.
MV came away with a dominant 18-1 victory to improve to 2-2 on the young season.
The Mustangs led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter and used a 6-0 run in the second period to lead 12-0 at halftime.
Mount Vernon scored three more goals in the third quarter and won the final period 3-1.
Jackson Scotchie and Ben Perry led the Mustangs with five goals each while teammate Cole Palmer netted three.
Dalton Siggers and Henry Stalzer scored twice with Patrick Still netting one goal.
Palmer led the team in assists with seven.
Colesson Quisenberry picked up the win in goal for the Mustangs, allowing just one goal while picking up three saves.
MV dominated from the face-off position, winning 76.2 percent of its face-offs.
Mount Vernon limited its turnovers to six while forcing ELCA to 15 miscues.
The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday, March 23, traveling to Boyd Buchanan High School in Chattanooga, TN for an out-of-state match.
Face-off against the Buccaneers is scheduled for 12 p.m.
